Post-judgment family law motions in Mt. Ephraim, NJ
Motions to modify or enforce custody, parenting time, child support and alimony orders after a New Jersey divorce or custody judgment, including enforcement of litigant's rights and certification reviews.
After the judgment
A divorce judgment or custody order is not always the end of the case. Children grow, jobs change, and parents move. When an order no longer fits, or the other party is not following it, the next step is a post-judgment motion in the Family Part. The Legal Assistance Center files and responds to these motions, including motions to enforce litigant’s rights and motions to modify orders.
Common post-judgment matters
- Custody and parenting time changes as children’s needs change. See parenting time schedules in New Jersey.
- Child support recalculations after an income change. See how New Jersey child support is calculated.
- Alimony modification or termination.
- Relocation requests when a parent wants to move out of New Jersey with a child.

FAQ
Post-judgment family law motions in Mt. Ephraim, NJ questions
Still have questions? Call us any day and ask.
What counts as a change in circumstances?
It depends on the order. Common examples are a significant change in income, a job loss, a change in a child's needs or schedule, or a parent's move. The parent asking for the change generally has to show that circumstances have changed since the order was entered.
Can I file a motion myself?
Yes. Many people file post-judgment motions on their own. A Motion / Certification Review under Advice & Counsel lets an attorney review your papers before you file, without a retainer.
